Camp details:
The whole thing is run and organized by experienced camp leaders so you can be sure you'll be well looked after and they'll make sure you can make the most of your trip! The camp is packed with loads of daytime and exciting evening activities so there's never a dull moment; you'll certainly need to be prepared for and be enthusiastic about spending lots of time outdoors! You'll be trying your hand at working with underprivileged children from the local community; anything from adventure-packed assault courses and rock pooling, to fun beach activities including a beach walk and lighthouse tour. You can also get your hands dirty and really get involved with the beautiful landscape by helping out with some conservation; from beach clearing and kennel building, to re-painting projects and making a huge difference to local residents' lives! There's also a chance to explore the wildlife; take a walk on the wild side with baboons and penguins and visit Seal Island. As if all of this wasn't enough, there will also be surfing lessons, visits to the Simonstown and Naval museums, beach barbecues, a walk to the Slangkop nature reserve, and even a tour of the magnificent Cape Point!
Why the camp needs you:
We can't emphasize enough just how much difference conservation and volunteer work means and it's lots of fun too! It helps to preserve and re-establish the natural environment for your own enjoyment as well as the enjoyment of generations to come. We want you to really get involved with the community and working with disadvantaged children as this is a wonderful way to develop your understanding of the culture as well as developing yourself.
You'll be staying on the beachside in Soetwater, near Kommetjie - a relaxed suburb and surfer's paradise! Soetwater is only about 40 minutes from Cape Town and there'll be plenty of opportunities to explore the stunning location in your free time.
