Programme HighlightsYou'll also have the chance to take part in the research and study of this fascinating animals, which all goes to help the conservation effort. There is even the chance to take part in crocodile and iguana breeding programs!
Where will I live ?
Monterrico, GuatemalaThe accommodation includes a large rancho with kitchen, office/library, second-storey dormitory, a large open-plan common area with hammocks, tables, a western toilet and a shower. There is also a visitor's house where volunteers sleep. The main turtle hatchery is 80 metres away from the accommodation.
Accommodation is rural but comfortable. With the ocean breeze and roar of the surf in the distance, it makes for an ideal stress-free retreat where you can take in all the wonders of the Pacific Ocean.
Qualifications and Minimum skillsNo prior experience is required, but any experience in marine biology, ecology or prior environmental work would be a bonus. A strong interest and passion for conservation and reptiles is most important. A basic level of Spanish will let you get the most out of this project.
What can I do in my spare time ?
With the ocean breeze and roar of the surf in the distance, your house is an ideal retreat where you can take in all the wonders of the Pacific Ocean and you may not feel the urge to stray far.
You can surf and enjoy a lively, party atmosphere around as this is a prime holiday destination. If you feel like dancing the night away you won't be short of companions.
