Caring projects are among the most rewarding but they can be hard, so resilience is an important characteristic to possess. Volunteers should be emotionally mature and able to cope with a distressing situation should it occur. It's not crucial to have a background in care work however some knowledge of working with mental or physical disabled people would be useful.
