those who love animals and want to see them in their natural habitat. It's a great placement for budding adventurers as you'll be experiencng the African wilderness close up! Your schedule will be based around the animals so you can expect to spend many hours observing lion behaviour and plenty of early mornings and late nights! With guidance, you will learn how to use all the relevant equipment and will be trained in all relevant areas. We will all work as a team so you’ll get involved in all areas of the research and base logistics. The project is expanding so you have the chance to be collar and habituating leopards for new research initiatives, when you are not monitoring the lions.

Take part in a wildlife monitoring and assessment project in a malaria-free Big 5 game reserve in South Africa's wild and beautiful Eastern Cape. While staying in the game reserve you'll work on many aspects of conservation management, including game monitoring, alien plant management, boma building, seaside ecology, and photography. In your free time you can explore the lands and the oceans of this beautiful area

Flexible, hard-working volunteers who want to work with animals, while based near Cape Town in the wonderful town of Stellenbosch! Volunteers must be able to commit for three months and have a good grasp of English. You must be prepared to work shifts over weekends and irregular hours.

anyone aged 17-24 with a thirst for team-based adventure and volunteering projects off the beaten track. You’ll work in some of the country’s amazing National Parks and helping to protect the habitats of their rare wildlife through construction and renovation work.

volunteers who love working with animals and will be committed to the long term goals of the project, as there may be hard manual tasks to be done that are essential to the project. Obviously a love of the outdoors is essential because big cats don’t spend much time inside! You should also relish working as a team as there are plenty of opportunities to work together to achieve goals. This is the perfect placement to take as part of a gap year and can be combined with other i-to-i projects.

Please note: Because of the hyper-inflation Zimbabwe is currently experiencing (it is the highest in the world!) it is impossible to confirm prices for more than 1 month. While we will make every effort to keep costs to an absolute minimum, there is a possibility that prices could increase even after you have been accepted on the project. If this does happen, you will get a full refund if you choose to cancel because of a price increase.
If you wish to stay longer than two months, there is a supplementary charge of £800 for each additional month, subject to availability.
