Whistler Blackcomb - the resort
Situated in the rugged Coastal Range of British Columbia, Whistler Blackcomb is a young, vibrant resort with an international flavour. With two unbelievable mountains side by side comprising long trails, glaciers, extensive snow bowls, incredible parks and pipes, and a reliable snow record, Whistler is the ultimate skiing and boarding paradise. The resort is distinctively West Coast style, with a friendly, relaxed mood and a plenty of shops, bars, clubs and restaurants to keep you occupied throughout the season.
The courses
You will have approximately 20 hours per week of quality instruction provided through Whistler Blackcomb Ski & Snowboard School, and you will also have plenty of spare time to yourself to enjoy the mountains. You will be taught in small groups of up to 8 people per instructor. Not only will you see a vast improvement in your own technique, you will also be given the tools to become an effective teacher and share your expertise with others. Our courses will provide you with an insight into the service side of the industry, how ski and snowboard schools function, plan lessons, and you will also get to shadow instructors. To complement the instruction, a first aid course, recreational avalanche course, and ski/snowboard tuning clinics are also included.Accommodation - Chalet Alta Vista
Chalet Alta Vista is an eleven bedroom chalet that can accommodate up to 24 people doing the instructor courses all together. It has a superb location on Archibald Road, a mere stones throw from Whistler's Alta Lake and a 10 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride into the village.
The chalet has spacious living and dining areas, two large decks with a jacuzzi hot tub on the front deck and fantastic views from the spacious upper BBQ deck. All bedrooms are en suite with heated floors and the property has a homelike feel and finished to a high specification. The chalet also has secure storage, full laundry facilities and a bus stop directly outside.
Food arrangements:
With chalet hosts preparing your breakfasts and evening meals, this chalet provides an ideal retreat and a perfect base for your Whistler Blackcomb experience.
Whistler - the town
Whistler is the bench mark for all North American ski resorts. Enjoy the temperate weather of the huge coastal mountains with a winter average of minus 2 degrees celsius. You will have the feeling of infinity when it comes to accessible skiable terrain. This town was built to emulate the European ski lifestyle, Ski in Ski out, and to fulfil the Canadian intense ski habits. All that you are looking for such as fine dining to cowboy food, classic wine to the simple Kokanee beer, everything in whistler is at a hand’s reach. You can ski down to the village and walk across it in about 5 minutes. When it rains in the village, it pours on top, and we mean SNOW… lots of it!
The package
The cost of the courses include:
The CSIA Level 1 certification will enable you to teach beginners and early intermediates in Canada or North America. The CSIA Level 2 allows you to teach at an intermediate level, and this level of certification can see you working in different countries around the world (including Australia or New Zealand over the Summer).
Many people who have completed an International Academy course have returned to the resort where they trained to work as a ski or snowboard instructor, whereas others have gained employment at other resorts worldwide. Why choose International Academy

Our users say
"In one word, immense! I had the best three months of my life doing what I love every day in one of the world's most prestigious resorts. Everyone’s skiing improved in all aspects of the sport; on piste, in powder, steeps, moguls or in the park."
